Hard to Keep Up

It's harder to keep up with blogging ever time I workout, now that Noe and I only have to drive 20ish minutes to get to the gym.

On Sunday, Josh (my brother) and I went to the jiujitsu class at the studio.  Normally, a purple belt comes up on Sundays to teach the class.  This week Shawn said that the purple belt had a family emergency, so he couldn't come teach.  I am thinking it doesn't pay to teach classes I want to try out, when I went to try out the class the black belt in town teaches, he had a fam. emergency (his wife got in a car accident).

Anyway, this was Josh's first official jiujitsu class.  Shawn gave him a gi to wear, which was cool because Josh ended up buying the gi.  Fugi, awesome gis in my opinion.  We always work on very basic stuff in that class, so I am glad it was the type of class Josh tried out for the first time.

We worked on
- scissor sweeps
- armbar from guard
- sweep from armbar attempt into armbar

It was a good class.  I didn't roll, I just worked on the things we did in class with Josh while people rolled.

Yesterday, Monday, I did the kickboxing class.  Holy shit.  One would think I am in shape because I can roll for like an hour and a half and be fine.  I am not in kickboxing shape though.  I thought I was gonna die after the first 3 min. round we did.

As the warm up we ran around the mat punching each bag as we ran past it.  It is a good warm up, we have about 16 muay thai bags that go around the outside of the mat space.

1st round - 3 min.  - 2 jabs, back leg kick, switch foot head kick
1 min full squats in between round (full squats = but touches your heels)
2nd rnd - 3 min.  - 2 jabs, hook to body, hook to body, uppercut, hook to head
1 min full squats w/ a jump
3rd round - the first two combined
1 min full squats

I can't remember the rest of the stuff we did but I didn't think I was going to make it.

After we cooled down for a min.  Noe, Josh and I worked on armbars and sweeps for a little while.  Then we went home and I studied for the bar some more.  :-T
